REMEMBERING OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD

Do you remember the story of "The Wizard of Oz"? In this story we saw the characters of Dorothy who wanted to run home because she thought there was a better place somewhere. We also met the scarecrow who believed he had no brains, the lion who thought he had no courage and the friendly gaze who assumed he had no heart.

Together, the four of them sat to the Emerald City to find the sorcerer in the hope that he could give them these virtues and find a way to go home to Dorothy.

Although Dorothy thought she'd been somewhere else when she arrived in Munchkin Land, she realized that her dream was to be somewhere else, not what she thought they would be. Disappointed in reality, she wanted to return desperately to Kansas and be with her loving family.

How many of us can relate to their dilemma? For some reason, we think there is greener meadow on the other hand or that we do not have the features needed to fulfill our dreams.

From a very young age, many of us are told that we cannot do this because we do not have the talent or we are not wise enough or strong enough or smart enough. What happens is that we eventually live our lives in character with what others have told us about ourselves and in our personal belief system about ourselves.

This colored view of us keeps us from the things we dream to do. Many of us long for a magic wizard who would come and miss the qualities we feel so we can do more with our lives.
For this reason, we are afraid to go ahead and go to our dreams. We feel insufficient to fulfill the calling for us. Past experience, we do not see any of the features needed to achieve our goal, our destination.

What many of us are never told is that we all get the necessary things in life so that we can go ahead, but because of our experiences and lack of self-confidence we tend to shrink back from moving forward in our lives.

Many people do not realize that self-confidence comes from succeeding in an area we want to go out for. Success itself is not a one-time event. In fact, it takes a lot of failure and learning from our mistakes that ultimately make us self-confident and confident.

Do not forget when you first started riding a two-wheel bike. It's something you really wanted to do. You saw your friends driving and were sure you could do something. What happened? You have tried and you failed most failed. You would go a few short feet and then wobble and then bingo! You would fall again. Did you give up?
No! You have been right on that bike and continued to practice until you succeeded.

The great baseball hero Babe Ruth was famous for his fantastic bat. He could hit a ball right out of the park! Has he just risen one day and said, "Hey, I'm going to hit every ball from the park"? No of course not. Certainly, it was probably his dream to hit as much as he could from the park, but in reality he knew that he had to practice and practice, and hit and miss and eventually he would get more than he would miss. Each player has a flask average. This means that they hit a number of balls, but that also means that many of the balls miss or eventually walk to base or striking.

We can have specific goals. We want to hit that ball, but we have to be ready to fail to succeed. If we fail, we better learn how to hold the flask next time or at what angle we have to wave the flask to hit the ball head. Even if we get super skilled here, there will be times when we just miss the ball. That's part of life, but unless we blow up we're not in the game.

How about your dreams, give them a fair shot. Of course it should not be perfect! Who is? The thing is that you have to go after your dreams and do not let the failure or lacks of confidence restrain you.

Like the scarecrow, the lion and the can of man, we must go through the contradiction and go forward in faith. Along the journey we find that we have the qualities we desire.
